Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran Panel

Public Views

NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Ayrshire & Arran provided the Panel with a summary of their proposals. More information, including the Boards’ submissions to the Panel, is available on their websites at Link opens in a new windowwww.nhslanarkshire.co.uk and Link opens in a new windowwww.nhsayrshireandarran.com.

The Panel was keen to hear the views of local people directly. It wanted to know what aspects of the Health Boards’ proposals people were happy, or unhappy with, and why. There were two ways in which local people were able to give the Panel their views:

1. By attending a public meeting – The Panel organised a public meeting in each of the areas of Lanarkshire and Ayrshire where Accident & Ememrgency services are currently provided. Meetings were held between 7.30pm and 9pm as follows:

  • Monday 12th November – Wishaw Sports Centre
  • Monday 19th November – Holiday Inn, East Kilbride
  • Wednesday 21st November – Sir John Wilson Town Hall, Airdrie
  • Monday 26th November – The Park Hotel, Rugby Park, Kilmarnock
  • Thursday 29th November – Princess Royal Conference Centre, Ayr

2. By sending their views in writing for the Panel’s consideration.

The Panel took the views expressed by local people into account when writing its final report. It also considered whether the Health Boards had taken proper account of the views that were expressed by local people and communities when developing their proposals.
